Daniel Salomon Smith is the Founding Member of Salomon Smith PLLC.  Prior to starting the firm, Mr. Smith worked at a nationwide law firm based in South Florida, representing the interests of Fortune 500 companies (including insurance companies), international businesses, publicly traded companies, government entities, community associations, as well as a variety of other employers, small business, and individuals.


More recently, Mr. Smith’s practice shifted its focus towards the representation of real estate developers and investors (large and small), joint venturers, and the injured.  Mr. Smith was born and raised in Miami Beach, Florida. Before returning home to South Florida, Mr. Smith attended business school at both the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He then earned a merit scholarship to attend law school at the University of Florida. Mr. Smith is a cost-effective and business-minded pragmatist focused on a “lean and keen” business model to best achieve results for his clients.

Mr. Smith graduated with honors from the University of Florida College of Law in 1973.  After gaining considerable litigation and appellate experience at a prestigious Miami law firm, Mr. Smith founded his own firm in North Miami Beach in 1983.  He was a Florida Bar Board Certified Trial Lawyer from 1992-1997. In 1997, he was elected to the Miami Beach City Commission, where he served with distinction until 2005.  Thereafter, he was unanimously appointed to serve as Miami Beach city attorney, holding the position until 2014. He then served as city attorney in North Miami Beach until 2018.  Over the last 20 years, Mr. Smith has been involved in virtually all local government law aspects.

 

From complex litigation to Sunshine Law, Public Records, government ethics, and procurement transactions, Mr. Smith has developed unique, well-rounded expertise in identifying complex legal problems and finding practical solutions for his municipal clients.  He currently serves as Special Magistrate for the City of North Miami.
